I’ve been using the Banktivity budgeting software on macOS for decades. It can download your transactions from financial institutions around the world using @Plaid & @saltedge. When you associate an account in Banktivity with a financial institution, the workflow redirects you to the institution’s login page, where you — login — and then authorize Plaid or Salt Edge’s access. This is all natural. A year ago, trying to connect a @imaginecurve card via Salt Edge, the login redirect 404s. That means, the redirect is going to a URL that doesn’t exist. Over the past years, I have fielded the most nonsensical questions from the collaborative support staff at IGG Software (Banktivity), Salt Edge and Curve. Today, I was asked to try to login using “Banktivity for iPhone”, since “some institutions prefer you login on a mobile device instead of a desktop”. I had to refrain from literally screaming having repeating this 100 times — “The connect workflow redirects to a 404! That means IT IS THE WRONG URL!” At this point, I would literally bribe someone to simply elevate the case to an engineer, or anyone in the technical team who instantly understands what it means when a user is shown a 404 error.
